Remembering the Incredible Legacy of Voice Actress Mary Kay Bergman

Mary Kay Bergman was a highly respected and prolific voice actress who contributed to a number of beloved animated films, TV shows and other works. She was best known for her work in shows and movies such as The Fairly Odd Parents, Scooby Doo, The Little Mermaid, South Park, Beauty and the Beast and many more. Her work was so beloved that it’s hard to imagine how much of an impact she had on the industry.

Mary Kay was born on June 5, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Martha and Stanley Bergman. Mary Kay grew up in the same neighborhood as Adriana Caselotti, the voice of the original Snow White in Disney’s 1937 film. Mary Kay eventually took over as Snow White’s voice for read-along books and commercials after Adriana retired.

Mary Kay was a talented singer and actress from a young age, and she began her career in the entertainment industry in the early 1980s. She got her first break as a voice actress on the animated TV series, The Little Mermaid. She went on to provide the voice for many other beloved characters, including Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1992-1993). She is also best known for being the voice of Liane Cartman and Wendy Testaburger in the hit animated comedy series South Park up until her untimely death on November 11th, 1999.

Throughout the 90s', Mary Kay became a big name in the voice acting industry, thanks to her work in a number of classic Disney films. She provided the voices of characters such as Bimbette in the Beauty and the Beast (1991) and Hera in Hercules (1997). Mary Kay was also an accomplished singer and had recorded a number of songs for Disney films, from “Just Around the Riverbend” in the 1995 adaptation of Pocahontas, to “A Whole New World” in Aladdin (1992). Although she was not the original voice actor for these characters, she provided the vocals for the songs they sing.

Sadly, Mary Kay’s life was cut short in 1999 when she committed suicide at the age of 38. Her death sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, and her work was remembered with great affection by her fellow voice actors and fans of her. She was a prolific voice actress who left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.

Though Mary Kay is no longer with us, her work and her memory will live on forever. She was a truly gifted performer who will be remembered for her incredible talent and the joy she brought to the lives of so many.
